NOTE: The fruit of the Spirit manifested in our lives is the key to understand this passage, and the key also to victorious Christian Living. “Rees Howells, Intercessor” by Norman P. Grubb, 1951, reveals that the Holy Spirit demanded of Rees, that he allow himself to be possessedby the Spirit. This is completely voluntary on our part. Demon Possession is a take-over through deception by the darkness of this world. Spirit-possession is definitely completely voluntary on our part.

One man in England practiced for 10 years, hours each day, until the demons so completely possessed him that he could manifest ectoplasm through his body up to 40 pounds of weight. If a medium would so serve Satan, couldn’t we as believers for whom Christ died, offer ourselves up to God as a living sacrifice? This is what Paul beseeched us to do in Romans 12:1-2.

But Oswald Chambers says there are few of us willing to pay the price for such a Spirit-filled walk. He himself nearly lost his mind as he struggled over this decision for over 6 years. Once he made it and God took over, he then had one of the most fruitful lives as can be found in all of Christendom.

He who follows in the train of Rees Howells, Oswald Chambers, George Muller, H.A. Baker and others of like ilk, will neverregret the decision once it is made. But to make it? It is to accept “death” to the self-life and the flesh-walk.

In the light of this, we can then more clearly understand this passage of Galatians.

Consider also that the fruit of the Spirit is linked with the tribe of Issachar – the tribe of sensitivity, faithfulness and obedience. Thisis the potential in an unusual way for the “First Nations People.” We need to pray that manyfrom this heritage will make this decision to take their part victoriouslyin the “One New Man.” We need all 12 of these nations and peoples moving harmoniously for the fullness of the purposes of God to take place! What a privilege that God asks us to pray and intercede for this to take place. China in the Home-Church Movement has had members raised up in this “Martyr-like spirit.” Jesusas the Son of Godhas set us the example. Many have seen and heard His call and responded completely. To reach every nation, tribe, tongue and people before His return, we need to believe for many more to be raised up from the continents, nations and special-group peoples. - J.A.W.
